MILITARY ROAD / HIGHWAY 55 WATERMAIN PROJECT NOTICE
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be replacing the bridge by the BP Gas Station and J & E Construction Company in September 2025. In the spring of 2026, the WisDOT will be replacing box culverts at the following locations:
- South of the Village of Stockbridge Office and US Post Office
- 200 S. Military Road and 205 S. Military Road (South of the entrance to the Community Hall / Fire Station / Park)
- North of the Intersection of Hickory Hills Road
During the engineering phase of the WisDOT bridge/culvert replacement project, there were Village of Stockbridge Utilities identified as being in direct conflict with the WisDOT bridge/culvert replacements. Therefore, the WisDOT is requiring the Village of Stockbridge Utilities to move watermains and hydrants within their project boundaries.
The relocation of watermains / hydrants will impact your water service.
There will be times you will be without water while contractors are working in your area. The water will be interrupted when contractors need to disconnect the current watermain, change it to a temporary watermain, and when connections are made to the new watermain. This would be the same while contractors are relocating water hydrants.
During times of temporary water service, customers will have lower water pressure than normal and will notice that water may seem cloudy. The cloudy water is air in the lines and will dissipate. It is not harmful to consume. The utility must disinfect watermains and conduct lab sampling to ensure the safety of the water we are providing to our customers.
The watermain relocation at the bridge by the BP Gas Station and J & E Construction has a start date of August 4, 2025. The box culverts do not have a definitive start date. As soon as we have that information from the contractors, you will be notified.
The Village will keep customers informed via direct mailings, social media, and door hangers. If you feel you need to be in direct contact via telephone or email, please contact me immediately at
(920) 439-1220 or at [email protected]. Please be aware the Utility will NOT provide hour-by-hour notifications. We will have project updates from the contractors daily, and will do our best to communicate those updates with water utility customers.
Expect interruptions in traffic flow in your area as well. There will be traffic control in the areas they will be working and Hickory Hills Road will be closed to traffic for a short amount of time. Again, further details will be sent to Village of Stockbridge Utility customers and residents as it becomes available to us from the contractors.
We apologize in advance for the disruption of service, and are working diligently to make it minimal as possible.
Sincerely,
Cindy Strebe
